GRASSY PARK: 6 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INJURED, 1 CRITICAL IN HEAD-ON COLLISION THIS MORNING

9 May 2018, Cape Town: Six people were left injured this morning, one of them critically, after a head-on collision between a bakkie and light motor vehicle at the 3rd and Lake Road in Grassy Park in the Western Cape.

ER24 Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 08h00 to find the Metro and Fire Services already on the scene. A bakkie and light motor vehicle were found in the middle of the intersection.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found one patient trapped in the bakkie. Five others were found either seated in their vehicles or walking around on the scene.

Fire Services had to used specialised equipment to free the entrapped patient from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that one patient was in a critical condition while five others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.

Shortly after treatment, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
