KRAAIFONTEIN: 6 LIFE SENTENCES FOR MAN WHO MURDERED 6 MEN FOR WHAT HE CALLED HIS OWN PROTECTION
SABC News Western Cape | Western Cape | NARI

1 Nov 2017, kraaifontein, Cape Town: The man who murdered six men for what he called his own protection at Wallacedene in Kraaifontein outside Cape Town in 2014, has been sentenced to six life terms and 30 years direct imprisonment.

The high court in Cape Town earlier convicted Bangikhaya Koni on six counts of murder and another six of kidnapping. Koni has entered into a plea agreement and pleaded guilty on all charges.

When asked why he did what he did, his explanation was that the victims were thugs and would have killed him first given a chance. Handing down the sentence, Deputy Judge President Patricia Goliath said Koni is not fit to possess a firearm.

The sentencing procedures went very quickly.
