SADLY THE BODY OF A 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL WAS RECOVERED FROM A PIT LATRINE, KZN
IPSS Rescue

2 March 2017, Kwa-Zulu Natal: This afternoon IPSS Medical Rescue assisted Kwadukuza fire department with the retrieval of a toddler from a pit latrine

It's believed that the young girl was taken to the toilet by her granny, who then needed to run back to their home. When she returned, her granddaughter was gone.

A search was started for the toddler by family and friends before SAPS together with emergency services were notified.

Since the last place the toddler was seen was at the pit latrine, KwaDukuza Fire Department arranged for a truck to drain the pit latrine, which was full of water and waste.

Once drained, the body of the 3 year old girl was located. A rope rescue system was established by IPSS and KDM firefighters to retrieve the toddler.

An inquest docket has been opened by the South African Police Services
