SAPS NEWS: Willowvale Rapist Sentenced 18 Years Imprisonment

KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: Willowvale Regional Magistrate’s Court sentenced 43-year-old man Mzikayise Gungqiso to undergo 18 years imprisonment for raping a 52-year-old woman. The accused person was sentenced on Tuesday, 19 February 2019 at Willowvale Regional Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that the 52-year-old woman was from a traditional ceremony on the 4th July 2018 at about 23:00 at Phaphazini Locality, Mboya Village, Willowvale. While
the victim was still going home, she felt someone who grabbed her from behind and raped her at an open field.
The victim was rescued by another woman. The accused ran for his dear life. Both women identified the accused as he is a local man. Acting Butterworth Cluster Commander Colonel Ncedo Ngwendze has welcomed the sentence handed to the accused. He advised women not to walk alone especially at night and in the dark areas.
