22 Jun 2017, Cape Town: [UPDATE] ER24 paramedics checked up on the 56-year-old man that was left critical after he was attacked by dogs in Athlone, Cape Town yesterday.

He is going for skin grafts tomorrow to replace the skin on his head & his hands were saved.

It is believed that the man and a 3-year-old girl were in their backyard when two dogs jumped over the wall.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene the girl, who sustained minor injuries, was already transported to Red Cross hospital by a family member.

Paramedics found the man still conscious but lying on the ground.

It is believed that the man had tried to protect the girl when he was mauled by the dogs. He sustained multiple injuries.

ER24 paramedics have applauded the man for his bravery and for saving the life of the little girl.
