15 May 2017, Johannesburg: At about 17h00 on Monday afternoon, a shootout & alleged hijacking incident took place at the arrivals & departures of OR Tambo International Airport.

It is believed that a VW Golf 7 without registration / number plates stopped at the arrivals and departures, when occupants opened fire.

A male passenger of one very traumatized lady who witnessed the incident, briefly explained in the video that: "A car came and they took out AK47's and they shot...." the conversation gets interrupted when someone asks: "Did somebody call the cops yet"

"As O.R. Tambo International Airport Management, we have this afternoon been made aware of this very unfortunate and deeply concerning matter.

The incident took place off the R24, along Ring Road, which leads to the airport’s arrivals and departures roadway. Law enforcement is currently on site, investigating the crime scene.

We are awaiting further information from Law enforcement on this matter.
