23 May 2018, Stanger, KwaZulu Natal: A 24 year old Chatsworth - KZN resident who is deaf & mute has been threatened with death after her Facebook friend sent her several messages promising to kill her.
The woman contacted Reaction Unit South Africa fearing for her life after the South African Police refused to open a criminal case. The woman lost her ability to speak & hear at the age of five (5) after she was involved in a serious car accident on route from Richards Bay.
She has informed RUSA Officers that whilst residing temporarily in Chatsworth, she received a friend requested from an Indian male Sashan Naidoo.
She accepted the invite from the stranger & chatted to him regularly over two months after providing him with her Whats-App contact number. He then started sending her nude pictures (pic 2,3,4 & 5) & requested the same.
When the female refused the twenty five (25) year old man then became agitated. According to the complainant, she then informed him that she intended reporting the matter to the Police.
He then threatened to kill her & posted a picture of himself in Police bullet proof vest (picture 1) & informed her that he worked for the SAPS. His employment could not be confirmed.
The woman is concerned for her safety after the Facebook friend tracked down her residence. She has since moved house fearing for her life. According to the woman, she has never met the suspect & she is unaware of how he managed to get all her personal information. He has since deleted his Facebook account.
