16 Apr 2018, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Six Arrested In Stolen Vehicle: Esenembe - KZN

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa have arrested six (6) suspects that were found inside a stolen motor vehicle in Upper Tongaat on Sunday morning.

Reaction Officers Hemal Rajakumar & Honest Ntume who were on night shift patrol in the Esenembe Farms at approx 00:27 when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.

The Officers conducted an ownership check on the plates and the gold Toyota Tazz came up as a Kia Rio. Both Reaction Officers then stopped the vehicle and removed the 3 males & three female occupants.

Upon inspection of the vehicle it was found that the chassis number & identification plates were filed off. The disc was missing & the ignition (see pictures in Gallery below) was damaged.

A check on the engine number came up positive as a sought after vehicle wanted in the Lamontville area.

According to the suspects, the vehicle belonged to an uncle that had passed on. The family had requested that they move the vehicle from Kwa Mashu to Bhamshela.

All six suspects claimed that they were unaware that the vehicle was stolen & they had not noticed that the disc was missing from the windscreen.

Reaction Officers arrested the suspects and handed over to SAP Umhlali for further investigation.
