5 Mar 2018, Muldersdrift, Gauteng: Thirteen people were left injured this morning, three of them critically, following a vehicle rollover on the N14 near the Beyers Naude turnoff in Muldersdrift.
ER24 Paramedics, along with City of Johannesburg EMS and other services, arrived on the scene to find a light delivery vehicle lying in the slow lane of the highway. Several people were found lying scattered around the scene.
Paramedics began to triage the patients while Metro services began to close off the road and divert traffic.
Upon assessment, paramedics found that three people had sustained critical injuries while ten others had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the three critically injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, one of the critically injured patients was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan helicopter to a nearby hospital. The remaining two critical patients were airlifted by other private medical helicopters.
The remaining patients on scene were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
