5 April 2017, Strand: Four suspects perpetrated a housebreaking at a residence in Marias Street Strand yesterday.
They were apprehended when neighborhood watch members and police were quick to respond. The suspects fled the scene in a black VW Golf with their loot when they were spotted and pursued by the local neighborhood watch.
During a high speed pursuit the suspects collided with a police vehicle and lost control over their vehicle and came to a standstill on the N2 freeway.
All four suspects aged between 24 and 28 were arrested by police in possession of the stolen household goods and jewelry.
Police also seized two crowbars, and the vehicle which was reported as hijacked in Bishop Lavis during last month.
Once charged, the suspects are due to make court appearance in Strand on the charges against them.
