CAPE TOWN: 4 SUSPECTS ARRESTED DURING ALLEGED STONE THROWING INCIDENT ON N2 NEAR STRAND
SAPS

Cape Town Metro police officers have arrested four suspects during an alleged stone throwing incident on the N2 near the Strand.

The City's JP Smith says Officers Ettiene Leckay and Dianne Claassen were patrolling the N2 during yesterday's afternoon's peak hour traffic, when they noticed the suspects throwing stones at vehicles travelling on the N2 between the M9 and the weighbridge.

He says the men fled on foot, but the officers with the assistance of their colleagues, managed to apprehend them. They are aged, 26 and 31 as well as two who are 36 years old.

They were taken to the Macassar Police station where a case of malicious damage to property was registered.

Smith says one of the suspects was recently released from prison.
