APPROX. 20 FIREARMS GONE MISSING FROM CAPE TOWN POLICE STATION

1 Sep 2017, Cape Town: A Cape Town police station has reportedly announced that a number of firearms, which have been held as evidence, have gone missing from a secure storeroom.

It is reported that as many as 20 guns are unaccounted for and that it is suspected that the weapons might have been used to weaponise gangs in the Western Cape.

The missing weapons and officers at Bellville South police station are now centre of a Ipid investigation, with rumours that the thefts might be gang related.

This comes at a time when underworld and gang-related violence as flared up all around the Western Cape in recent months.
