SAPS NEWS: TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN BISHOP LAVIS FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

16 Apr 2018, Western Cape: Two men, aged 29 and 37 years old, were brought to book yesterday, Saturday 14 April 2018 at 13:30, by police deployed in the Bishop Lavis area to combat gang violence . Police pulled over a suspicious motor vehicle in Angela road and arrested the two men.

One of the suspects, a 37-year-old man is known to SAPS members , he is the leader of a local gang and his present bail condition prohibits him to be in the Bishop Lavis precinct. He was arrested for the contravention of his bail condition.

His passenger, a 29-year-old man was found in possession of a firearm without a licence. He was arrested for the illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Both men were detained at Bishop Lavis SAPS and will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 April 2018.

Police operations will continue in the area to ensure safety of the community.
