10 Mar 2018, Grassy Park, Cape Town: Partnership policing led to the discovery of abalone worth an estimated street value of R200 000 in Grassy Park. Police acted on information they received from the community about abalone being kept at a house in Water Crescent, Zeekoevlei, Grassy Park on 08 March 2018. A search was conducted at the house and a total of 136 kg of abalone was discovered.

The police members also seized a large chest freezer, which served as a storage unit for the abalone; a scale; a Toyota Conquest motor vehicle; an undisclosed amount of money; a laptop; and cellular phones.

Two men aged 37 and 52 years were arrested and, once they have been charged, they will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12 March 2018.
