A 23-year Marydale man was sentenced to an effective ten-years imprisonment for rapes he committed between 2015 and 2017 in the Marydale area. The first rape was committed in the early hours of the morning on 24 September 2015, when a 64-year old female victim was accosted by Collin Bob (23), dragged into the veld and raped. The female was on her way
home from a local tavern.
Bob returned to the victim's house exactly 2 years later, kicked open door in the early hours of the morning and raped her again while she was in bed. This time around he was arrested hours later by the police in Marydale. The accused was linked with his DNA and sentenced for both rapes. He remained in custody up until his sentencing.
The SAPS lauds all the members involved in this case and a special thanks to D/Cst Elrico Kiewiedo of Prieska Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit for a job well done.
