MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: SAPS DISMANTLED A TRIO CRIME SYNDICATE SOON AFTER BUSINESS ROBBERY

24 Apr 2018, Limpopo: A Tactical Intelligence led operation was conducted in Mphephu and Siloam Policing areas outside Thohoyandou yesterday, 23 April 2018.

This operation which composed the Provincial Tracking Team, the SAPS Airwing, Crime Intelligence, Mphephu and Siloam Police, made a major breakthrough when they intercepted and dismantled a trio crime syndicate soon after suspects committed a business robbery in the Dzanani CBD yesterday, 23 April 2018 in the morning.

These suspects allegedly attacked a local hardware and robbed of workers cell phones and fled the scene in a VW Jetta.

The Police were summoned and reacted swiftly until the getaway vehicle was spotted at Mavhoi village along the R523 road.

A motor vehicle chase ensued until at Matanda village where three (03) suspects aged between 35 and 42 were cornered and arrested.

During the arrest, the following were recovered:

  • Four (04) cars
  • Two (02) 9mm firearms
  • Balaclavas
  • Hand gloves
  • Two (02) dash board blue lights
  • Cash amount of R2 531-00


The SAP Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended all the Police Officers who participated during this operation for the job well done.

The General has reiterated his strong warning to all the criminals out there that Limpopo cannot be turned into their playground.

“We are equal to the task as the Police and members of the community must continue supporting us with quality and reliable information about any criminal activities occurring around their areas in order for us to deal with it successfully,” concluded General Ledwaba.

The suspects will appear before Dzanani Magistrate Court soon.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
