The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Deliwe de Lange, is condemning the continued attacks and killings of police members following the recent attack on two on-duty officers, where one member was killed.

It is reported that two police officers were conducting routine patrols on Monday evening, 27 March 2017, in the Kliptown area in Soweto when they noticed and stopped a suspicious Volkswagen Polo with six occupants inside.

The unknown suspects allegedly then shot at the police officers. A 33-year old Constable was fatally wounded, while his partner escaped unharmed.

It is further alleged that the suspects stole the official firearm of the deceased officer.

De Lange has committed that no stone will be left unturned in the investigation of this horrendous act. The death of any one member of the Police is one death too many.

The suspects are still at large and police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and theft of police firearm.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help towards apprehending the suspects to please call the Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or call their nearest police station. Information might be rewarded.
