EVENT TOMORROW: LEVELS OF SERIOUS CRIMES WHICH POSE A THREAT TO COMMUNITY

23 Jun 2017, Eastern Cape: The Presidential Siyahlola (Inspection) event is set to take place tomorrow, 24 June 2017 at the Sadu Sports Grounds, Lusikisiki.

The purpose of the visit is for Government to come together with the community of Lusikisiki to address issues relating to rendering basic services to the community from all government departments and addressing the levels of serious crimes which pose a threat to our community.

The community are harassed by gangs. Crimes against women and children, and Ukuthwala (men who take women by force for marriage) remains a concern. During the pre-event phase, identified government departments are busy with build-up programmes in this area.



The SAPS, from a NatJOINTS and Prov Joint level is currently conducting operations which began on 10 June 2017 and is expected to continue till 30 June 2017.

All the identified departments are expected to provide feedback on the challenges identified in this area and the work that has been done. The President will be taken through a guided tour of the newly built Police Station, a site visit to the St Elizabeth Hospital and SASSA Local Office.

The event will be followed by a community engagement event at the Zanu Sports Field (Ward 13). Several operations are currently in progress.


The Deputy Minister for Police, Mr Mkongi visited the Police operations yesterday and commended members commitment.
