22 Jul 2017, Gauteng: The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says the pair were arrested in connection with bribery involving R9000. RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane says: "Two compliance inspectors were arrested. They will be charged under the Anti-Corruption Act. They issued roadworthy documents without inspecting the vehicles."

Their arrests follow a complaint from a scholar transport operator. Zwane says the RTMC has identified "problematic" licensing and vehicle testing centres across the country, in a bid to clamp down on corruption.

He says several more arrests can be expected over the coming months.

There's alleged corruption at testing stations across Gauteng, with scores of learner drivers reportedly having been asked for a bribe upon failing their licence test.
