CAPE TOWN: AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED AFTER PASSENGER FERRY STARTED SINKING

15 Sep 2017, Cape Town: At least two people sustained minor to moderate injuries after the passenger ferry with 68 passengers and 4 crew members on board started sinking while on its way back from Robben Island this afternoon.

NSRI swiftly activated several stations when they received the distress call.

When ER24 arrived on scene this afternoon at 14h46, the ferry roped in to assist the passengers was still coming into the dock.

Paramedics assessed the patients as they were getting off the ferry. Two people sustained injuries varying from minor to moderate.



ER24, as well as another medical service on scene, transported the patients to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known to our paramedics but investigations will follow.
