Successful resuscitation - Cyclist Ballito

Earlier this morning IPSS paramedics responded to a mountain bike park, where a man had reportedly collapsed after a trail-ride.

Upon arrival, it was established that a member of public was performing CPR on the man, after he showed no signs of life.

IPSS paramedics initiated advanced life support resuscitation and worked on the patient for 15min, at which point the cyclist regained cardiac activity.

The cyclist was transported by IPSS Medical Rescue to hospital for further care.

Special thanks Shane Bond who initiated CPR prior to our arrival. Your courage and actions saved a life.

We would like to use this opportunity to encourage all of our followers to learn CPR and to pass these skills on to their children.

Bystander CPR saves lives, it’s that simple.
