26 Dec 2017, Cape Town: South Africans have taken to social media to express their shock over the death of music legend singer, writer and producer Robbie Malinga. The 49 year old record label owner had been ill for a number of months. He was being treated for anaemia – or iron deficiency.

Malinga is synonymous to South African households, dance floors and weddings with his songs and artists he produced.

His music career dates back to Kwaito days with hits like Insimbi. He later moved from making Kwaito to producing award winning Afro pop hits. His work includes producing Musa’s Mthande, Kelly Khumalo’s Sobabile and Amanda Black’s Amazulu.

Some of his latest public appearances includes an interview on 5FM’s Fresh Breakfast. Malinga was a devoted husband to his wife.

Malinga’s accolades include South African Music Award for Best Remix of the Year and South African Music Award for Best Produced Album.
