A young DA supporter was brutally attacked by a group of angry ANC protesters. He was hit with sticks and branches, thrown with stones and half-bricks and kicked in the face and head.

According to The Citizen, the man, wearing a DA flag wrapped around his neck, came within a block of Luthuli House, at a spot where a group of ANC supporters had gathered.

"Noticing him, the angry group started to chase him and threw stones at him. Members of the Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMCA) attempted to stop the mob from chasing the man down, but couldn’t control the group of about 20 people who were after him."

"Luckily some sense prevailed and some MKMVA members intervened; an older Indian man wearing an ANC T-shirt managed to bring calm."

"The police also arrived with pepper spray and managed to get to the injured man."

Michel Bega took these sequence of photographs that tell the story:

WATCH THE VIDEO: In the video, it's very clear that this man was totally innocent, walking on the pavement, minding his own business. The next thing, he was chased & brutally attacked.

AFTER THE ATTACK:

Feedback on the young DA member who was viciously attacked by ANC thugs yesterday: I visited Kade yesterday after his ordeal and I'm pleased to say that he's even more determined to become the best activist ever.

He intends laying a charge at SAPS today. I will organize trauma counselling, as I think it's necessary. Kade, we salute you.
