23 Dec 2017, Cape Town: The Western Cape Health Department says a two-year-old boy who was transferred from George Hospital after his private parts were cut off, is in a stable condition at the Red Cross Children's Hospital following surgery to reattach it.

A 33-year-old suspect has been arrested for attempted murder after police confiscated a pair of scissors. Police say the suspect is said to be in a relationship with the child's mother.

Health Department spokesperson, Darren Francis, says doctors are satisfied with the surgery, however the boy is expected to remain in hospital for a while: " We have received a two-year-old boy from George Hospital.

He is currently in a stable condition. Our team of physicians and nursing staff are monitoring his vitals and giving him the necessary treatment."
