CONTRACT BETWEEN SASSA AND CASH PAYMASTER SERVICES (CPS) EXTENSION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
SABC News Western Cape | National SA News | NARI

9 Feb 2018, Cape Town: Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Social Development has warned that it will not accept the extension of the Contract between social security agency SASSA and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS).

SASSA and the Social Development Department are in trouble for asking the Constitutional Court for a six-month extension of its contract with CPS. This comes after the court ruled in 2014 that the contract that SASSA signed with CPS in 2012 was invalid.

The committee's chairperson Zoleka Capa: "It will not be a cut and dry matter when that time for CPS to part comes, there will still be other activities that have not been signed off and a handover report and given that this matter has been in the hands of the court, they have to report every other action but an extension we won't agree."
