8 Jun 2017, Gauteng: Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, was involved in a hijacking drama, on Wednesday evening.

According to IOL, the 21-year-old, Nel-Peters was approached by armed men near the Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre.

The suspects robbed Nel-Peters of her personal belongings, but did not take her vehicle which was part of her Miss South Africa’s prize winnings.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula condemned the attempted armed hijacking on the courageous Nel-Peters. Nel-Peters is shaken up but physically unharmed said Mbalula.



Mbalula condemned the incident and vowed that "no resources will be spared in the fight against crime".
