21 Jul 2017, Pinetown: A man in his eighties has sustained serious injuries after being shot twice in the upper body in New Germany Pinetown on Thursday afternoon. Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene in Sanders Road to find the seriously injured man had sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene before rushing him through to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

At this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.



UPDATED REPORT (Blue Security):

A disabled woman was abducted and an elderly man was shot during a New Germany hijacking this afternoon.

Blue Security operations director Brian Jackson said a man who appeared to be in his late eighties had been shot in his face during a hijacking in Sanders Road earlier today.

“The hijackers shot the man in his face during the hijacking and fled in his vehicle with his wife, a disabled woman, still sitting in the passenger seat."

"The victim was stabilised at the scene and transported to hospital. A police task team together with security companies, neighbourhood watch groups and volunteers launched a massive search for the woman."

"The vehicle was eventually recovered and she was found, slightly injured, and taken for medical treatment at a nearby hospital,” Jackson said.
