5 Jan 2018, Uitkyk Road, Nelspruit: A husband and wife and their two domestic workers were attacked on their farm on the Uitkyk Road yesterday afternoon.

According to Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit response manager Callum Mac Pherson, four armed suspects assaulted the two domestic workers and tied them up in the house at around 14:00.

When the husband and wife returned to the house at about 17h00, they noticed the washing was still on the line. The wife went into the house where she too was assaulted and tied up.

They then proceeded to grab the husband and took him to another room where they assaulted him and tied him up with cable ties.

The suspects ransacked the house and took cellphones, jewellery, cash and a shotgun. They fled the scene in the owner’s Mazda bakkie.

One of the victims managed to untie themselves and went to call for help. Nelspruit Concerned Citizen’s John Meintjies said they received a call-out from a member of the community on the NCC zello channel just after 18h00.

“We arranged for emergency services and Hi-Tech Security and police to respond to the scene.” Emergi-med’s Steve Daly said they responded to the scene and treated the husband and wife for the minor injuries they sustained. He said the two domestic workers were transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital by EMS Provincial.

Bossies Community Justice’s Albert Gryvenstein said he assisted in the search for the bakkie. “We helped with the guys from Tracker to find the vehicle. We managed to find it just outside the Steiltes area near the Rest.”
