7 Apr 2018, Allanridge, Free State: The police in Allanridge in the Free State launched a full-scale search for a group of suspects who allegedly "murdered a mother and her daughter on Friday" and injured a four-year-old girl.
Police spokesperson, COL. Thandi Mbambo said the incident probably happened on Thursday night.
According to Mbambo, police were called to the scene in Allanridge on Friday morning. She said police found the body of the mother (55) in her room and the body of her 14 year old daughter was found in the living room. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The 4 and 7-year-old girls are the grandchildren of the 55-year-old. According to Mbambo, the 7-year-old waited until Friday morning to call for help.
She said a motive for the murders was not known at this stage. "It's believed that the children [the four and seven-year-old girls] were visiting their grandmother for the school holiday," she said. "We have already appointed a task team to arrest the culprits."
The mother of the four and seven year old girls was not home at the time of the incident. Police investigate two charges of murder and one of attempted murder.
