20 Mar 2018, Verulam, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Members of Reaction Unit South Africa that were on patrol in the Verulam Cbd were stopped by bystanders who believed that there was a robbery in progress.
According to the public who gathered outside the premises, they noticed an enraged male climbing over a gate & forcing his way into a creche.
Reaction Officers approached the premises situated on the 2nd floor in a building on Todd Street & found the 25 year old man inside the premises with 40 children, the owner & her assistant.
The man was restrained when he became violent. It was established that he had forced his way into the building to confront his girlfriend who has stolen a pair of his shoes after a break up.
When she refused to meet with him, the man climbed over a burglar gate separating two balconies & forced his way into the main classroom at the creche. Forty children between the ages of four (4) month & four (4) years were on the premises at the time of the incident.
Reaction Officers had to forcefully remove the man & released him a short while later after the creche owner did not desire a criminal case.
