15 Feb 2018, Kwa-Zulu Natal: A replica firearm and valuebles that were taken during a robbery was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Phoenix earlier on Thursday.

While on patrol Reaction Officers were flagged down by two woman and a man requesting assistance.

The male victim was bleeding from an injury to his head. They explained that while seated under a tree they were approached by six suspects who were armed with knives and pangas. One suspect was armed with a firearm.

The victims were robbed of their valuables which included cellphones, handbags and cash. The male victim was pistol whipped during the robbery. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

RUSA Officers patrolled the area and noticed the six suspects fleeing through a bush in he direction of the DSW Water Treatment Department on Stonebridge Drive in Phoenix.

Officers pursued the suspects through the dense bush however they managed to evade arrest. A replica firearm that was used in the robbery and some of the stolen goods were recovered on a pathway in the bush.

The suspects are believed to be responsible for several robberies that have occurred in the area in recent weeks.
