4 Dec 2017, Verulam, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Two suspects who had stolen equipment valued in excess of R25 000 from a truck were arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa a short while ago (Monday).

At approximately 08:15 a sub contractor for Telkom arrived at RUSA Offices and explained that he had parked his truck at a Park and Fly on Friday afternoon. When he went to pick up the truck this morning he found that his tools had been stolen. The complainant had information regarding the suspects location and required assistance in apprehending them.

Reaction Officers proceeded to a dense bush near a railway line in Temple Valley and found the two suspects sleeping inside a tent. Some of the stolen tools was recovered in the tent. While being interviewed the suspects confirmed they had stolen the tools which consisted of spades, piks, hydraulic lifts, ladders etc.

Most of the stolen goods were sold to random people in the Verulam taxi rank and were not recovered. A block and tackle that was sold to a vendor on Ireland Street for a R100 was recovered at a home in Waterloo.

The suspect on the right in picture 2 has been apprehended on numerous occasions by Reaction Officers for crimes ranging from house break-in, theft, robbery and drug possession.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and are currently detained at the Verulam SAPS.
