18 Oct 2017, Isipingo Hills, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Residents in Isipingo Hills, Lotus Park and Orient Hills are up in arms since they awoke to find their households without electricity as the power substation on Platt Drive in Isipingo Hills was set alight during the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile protesters got an early start outside the transit camp at the entrance to Orient and Lotus Park early this morning. Protesters burnt tyres and littered the roadway with debris causing motorists to turn and find alternate routes.

Members of Isipingo Hills CPF stood off at the Platt Drive robots whilst the relevant authorities responded to the scene. Electricity has been restored to certain roads whilst repairs are underway to ensure all residents are powered up again.




Substation replaced after being torched by protesters in Isipingo Hills Following the brazen destruction of the power substation on Platt Drive in Isipingo Hills this morning, the Ethekwini Municipality personnel worked swiftly to ensure that the box was replaced.

Members of Isipingo Hills CPF stood down at the site whilst the repairs were underway.

Electricity has been restored to most roads that were affected whilst the outstanding complaints are being dealt with. Residents are apprehensive that the new substation might be sabotaged by incensed protesters.
