2 Feb 2018, Bloemfontein, Free State: The robbery that took place at the Metro Food Market yesterday, was targeted at the cash collect vehicle.
According to management at the Metro Food Market, the incident took place at the back of the store, where about seven heavily armed men with rifles attacked the cash-in-transit security and ran off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the men arrived in a blue Polo Vivo and white Nissan bakkie.
Management says that shoppers and employees were not affected and thus were unaware of the incident at the time.
They have however taken extra precautionary measures to ensure the safety of their customers.
Management says that it is business, as usual, today, and would like to thank police and security for their swift response.
Marope says a police investigation is still currently taking place, and no arrests have yet been made. He urges anyone with any information to contact their nearest police station.
