2 Aug 2017, Paarl: One man was killed and eight others injured this morning when a minibus and taxi collided on the R301 between Paarl and Franschhoek in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with Metro and Fire Services, were called to the scene at approximately 08h06.
On arrival, paramedics found the taxi in the middle of the road facing oncoming traffic while the minibus was found lying on its roof on the side of the road.
On inspection, paramedics discovered the lifeless body of a man lying inside the overturned minibus. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple injuries.
Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead.
Eight other people were found on the scene. Assessments showed that their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patients were transported to Mediclinic Paarl and Paarl Provincial Hospital for further care.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
