5 Jan 2018, Cape Town: The N1 highway has been closed in both directions following an Accident on the N1 between Leeu Gamka and Prince Albert Turnoff early Friday morning.

According to Western Cape Traffic officials in the Western Cape a taxi crash on the N1 near Leeu Gamka killed nine people this [Friday] morning

Nine taxi passengers have been killed when the minibus they were travelling in crashed on the N1 between Prince Albert Road and Leeu Gamka in the Karoo.

Traffic Chief in the Western Cape, Kenny Africa says the driver apparently lost control and the taxi rolled. Africa says the road has been closed in both direction shortly after the accident in the early hours of this morning.

"The death toll in the gruesome taxi accident early this morning on the road between Prince Albert road and Leeu Gamka on the N1 has risen to 9."

"Five male occupants and four female occupants died in this gruesome crash. Another six occupants were seriously injured” Africa says.
