ER24 Paramedics | Western Cape | NARI

14 Apr 2018, De Wet, Western Cape: Three people were injured yesterday afternoon, two of them critically, when a light motor vehicle collided with a bus on the N1 near De Wet in the Western Cape.

ER24 Paramedics, along with the Metro and Fire Services, arrived on the scene to find the bus parked a short distance away. The light motor vehicle was found lying on the side of the road.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman lying trapped in the front seat of the vehicle. A 7-year-old girl was found in the rear of the vehicle while a man was found seated outside.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the woman and young girl had sustained numerous injuries and were both in a critical condition. The man was found to have sustained only minor injuries.

Fire Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and provided the two critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Shortly after treatment, the patients were transported to Mediclinic Worcester and Worcester Provincial Hospital for further care.

Fortunately, no children from the bus sustained any injuries. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
