25 Dec 2017, Western Cape: Two people have been killed in a Head-on collision on the N1, outside of Beaufort West in the Karoo. Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says the crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

An eyewitness told authorities that one of the taxi drivers had apparently overtaken on a solid double line barrier line and collided with an oncoming taxi.

The road had to be closed and remained closed for a couple of hours. On Saturday, two people died and three others were injured in a collision on the R60 near Worcester when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

A pedestrian also lost his life in Worcester on Friday, bringing the total to five the number of fatalities this weekend. Africa has urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
