NEWLANDS CRASH: 2 MEN WERE INJURED THIS AFTERNOON WHEN THEIR LIGHT DELIVERY VEHICLE CRASHED INTO TREE

11 Jan 2018, Cape Town: Two men have been injured this afternoon when their light delivery vehicle crashed into a tree on the M3 in Newlands in the Western Cape.

ER24 Paramedics, along with the Metro Rescue Services, arrived on the scene to find the delivery vehicle on the side of the road.

A man was found lying trapped inside the vehicle while a second man was found seated on the pavement on the opposite side of the road.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped patient was in a critical condition while the second man had sustained only moderate injuries.

Metro Rescue Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.

The critically injured man was transported by ER24 while the second patient was transported by the Metro Services.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
