17 May 2018, Tzaneen, Limpopo: A woman was killed and 23 others injured on Monday afternoon following a collision between a bakkie and large taxi on the R71 Magoebaskloof in Tzaneen, Limpopo.
ER24 Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a significant amount of damage in the collision. Several people were found lying scattered around the scene while several others were found in the two vehicles.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that twenty-four people had been injured. One had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition while twenty-three others had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured woman provided with advanced life support interventions before they were all transported to Letaba and Van Velden Provincial Hospitals.
Unfortunately, upon arrival at hospital, the critically injured woman succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
