SECURITY GUARD IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER HEAD-ON COLLISION IN DURBAN

30 Jun 2017, Durban: A security guard is fighting for his life after a partial head on collision on Musgrave Road nead Sydenham Road in Durban on Friday afternoon. Rescue Care Paramedics were called to the scene just before 2pm to find the badly damaged vehicles obstructing the roadway.

Two vehicles had collided in a partial head on collision.

A security guard was severely entrapped in his vehicle and whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man in the vehicle the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and hydraulic equipment to free the man.



The man had sustained critical injuries and was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene.

Once the patient had been extricated from the wreckage he was rushed through to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

There were no injuries in the second vehicle. Musgrave Road was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
