PARAMEDICS ATTENDING TO MULTIPLE INJURED PATIENTS, COMMUNITY STRIP & STEAL VEHICLE PARTS

27 Jan 2018, Durban: Sixteen people have been injured in a multiple vehicle Pile Up on the N2 South Bound near Chesterville in KwaZulu Natal on Saturday Afternoon.

Rescue Care Paramedics Paramedics arrived on the scene around 13h30 to find total carnage. There was a fatal pedestrian knocked over and the secondary collision occurred.

A truck collided into multiple vehicles pushing two vehicles down the bank as well as the truck coming to rest down the banks. In total Eleven cars and a truck were involved in the crash.

A total of sixteen people had sustained various injuries and immediately more resources were dispatched to assist. Whilst emergency personnel were attending to the injured the community were stripping the vehicles and stealing what they could.

Only one lane of the busy freeway was opened for vehicles to trickle past. Once all of the injured had been stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage the events leading up to the pile-up are unknown however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
