18 Jun 2017, Pietermaritzburg: On Sunday night at around 19h00, Netcare 911 paramedics and other services were called to a collision on the R56 about five kilometres out of Pietermaritzburg.
Reports from the scene indicate that a car and a bakkie collided head-on. Exact detail to the cause of the crash will however remain a subject for police investigation.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the twisted frames of the vehicles , consistent with that of a high impact collision, spread across the roadway.
On investigation, it was found that Mom, Dad, and two children were traveling in the car. Dad and a two-year-old-child was in a critical condition while Mom and a three-year-old girl sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the bakkie was found to be in a critical condition..
Paramedics worked hand in hand at the scene to stabilise the injured before transporting them to various hospitals in Pietermaritzburg for the care that they required.
