24 Sep 2017, Pinetown: Two men have been killed and three others injured in a serious collision involving a Truck, SUV and a car on the N3 Durban Bound near Richmond Road offramp in Pinetown on Saturday night.
Just after 20h15 Rescue Care Paramedics responded to the serious collision. On arrival they found carnage. A SUV had collided into the rear of a truck and third vehicle was involved.
Paramedics found that three people were severely entrapped in the SUV.
Unfortunately the two rear passengers had suffered fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do and they were declared deceased on the scene.
The driver was critically injured and severely entrapped. Whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics placed the man on a manual ventilator the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free the man.
Once freed the driver and passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.
The driver of the light motor vehicle was also transported to a nearby hospital for further care. At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
