25 Nov 2017, Verulam, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tree in Verulam, KwaZulu Natal

Two people were injured after the bakkie they were travelling in crashed into a tree on New Glasgow Road, Canelands in Verulam earlier on Saturday afternoon.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from passing motorists requesting medical assistance for the driver and passenger of the Isuzu bakkie.

Upon arrival it was establised that both occupants of the bakkie were under the influence of alcohol.

It is alleged that the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the driver attempted to avoid a truck and trailer. The bakkie then crashed head on into a tree.

The injured were stabilised on scene before transported to hospital for further medical care.
