On Tuesday afternoon, Netcare 911paramedics responded to a light aircraft crash on the Oestermoed Farm in Hekpoort.

Reports from the scene indicate that the training pilot went on a solo flight in a Cessna aircraft when according to him, he experienced engine problems.

The light aircraft crash-landed on the Oestermoed farm; fortunately, the Oestermoed protection officers were at hand and pulled the pilot from the wreckage before it burst into flames.

This heroic action definitely saved the pilot, a man in his twenties from fatal injuries.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and after examining the patient, it was found that he sustained moderate injuries.

The patient was treated at the scene before medics transported him to a nearby hospital for the care that he required.
