4 Oct 2017, Bronkhorstspruit: Approximately 64 people were injured this afternoon when a bus, bakkie and taxi collided at the R25 and M6 in the Bronkhorstspruit area. ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at approximately 15h25.
Upon inspection, paramedics discovered a large bus parked on the side of the road while a taxi was found lying on its side on the side of the road. A bakkie and trailer were found lying from the left lane into the emergency lane.
Occupants from all three vehicles were found either walking around or seated around their vehicles. Local authorities began to close off the road while services on the scene set up a triage area.
Upon assessment, paramedics found that a total of 64 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various facilities in the area for further treatment.
The exact cause of the of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
