8 Oct 2017, Benoni: A collision between a truck and a bakkie on the N12 near Tom Jones Avenue in Benoni left three people with moderate injuries.

At approximately 3.35pm on Saturday afternoon, paramedics from ER24 and local firefighters arrived on the scene where they found a large truck and a bakkie that collided with each other.

The bakkie was wedged between the truck and a bridge pillar. Firefighters used rescue equipment to free the trapped driver from the bakkie.

Once the man was freed, he was treated for moderate injuries. A woman was also found in the bakkie with minor injuries. Paramedics explained that they expected the worst when they initially saw the wreckage.

The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries. He was treated at the scene and later transported, along with the occupants of the bakkie, to a nearby hospital for further care.

It is understood that both vehicles were traveling on the N12 in the direction of Johannesburg when the collision occurred. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known.
