3-YEAR OLD BOY AIRLIFTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER HE WAS KNOCKED BY A CAR IN BENONI

3 Jan 2018, Benoni: A 3-year-old boy was left critically injured this morning when he was knocked off his bicycle by a light motor vehicle on Kei Road in Benoni.

ER24 Paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 07h55, finding the body of the young boy lying on the side of the road. A light motor vehicle was parked on the side of the road a short distance away.

Paramedics assessed the boy and found that he had sustained a serious head injury, leaving him in a critical condition.

Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise the patient’s condition. Once treated, the boy was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a nearby private hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped injury. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
