29 Nov 2017, Randburg: Eleven people were left injured this morning when a taxi rear-ended another on Malibongwe Drive in Randburg.
ER24 Paramedics arrived on the scene at 08h40 to find both the taxis in the left-hand emergency lane. The passengers were found on the side of the road while one passenger was found lying trapped inside one of the taxis.
Fire and rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped patient from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that ten patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries while one other patient had sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured with pain-relief medication before they were transported by ER24, and another service, to various hospitals for further treatment.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
